ArcGIS Pro

ArcGIS Pro is the latest professional desktop GIS application from Esri. With ArcGIS Pro, you can explore, visualize, and analyze data; create 2D maps and 3D scenes; and share your work to your ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise portal. This software is also available for download through the University's Educational Site License, download instructions are available on the Western Libraries Geospatial Hub on the Licensing Page. 

ArcGIS Online

ArcGIS online is now enabled for Single-Sign On. Instructions are available on the Western Libraries Geospatial Hub on the Licensing Page. Reach out to the Map and Data Centre’s GIS Specialist if you need any help getting started. This account will be linked to Western’s ArcGIS Online organization and grant you access to web-GIS software such as: Survey123, Collector for ArcGIS, Story Maps, Experience Builder, Dashboards, App Studio, Business Analyst, Community Analyst and more. This account is also how you'll access ArcGIS Pro and other stand alone Esri desktop products. 

QGIS (Quantum GIS)

QGIS is a free and open source GIS software program that allows you to "create, edit, visualise, analyse, or publish geospatial information" (qgis.org). This program can run on a variety of operating systems - Windows, Linux, Mac, and in the future, Android.
