Finding Videos/DVDs/Streaming Videos

Four Methods for finding Videos/DVDs/Streaming Videos

Use one of the four methods detailed below to find Videos/DVDs/Streaming Videos purchased by Western Libraries:

1. Search the Catalogue

Search the Library Catalogue via a keyword search and limit to videos (retrieving videos, DVD, and streaming videos)  as illustrated below

If you would like streaming videos only select electronic resources in the Library or Collection drop down menu.

DVDs/Videos can be booked and held at Weldon or King's to ensure that it is available for your class date and time.

2. Search the library catalogue for National Film Board Videos

Western Libraries has purchased a streaming video collection accessible via the National Film Board’s online Screening Room, providing access to over 3000 streamed productions, films, trailers and clips. To find only these productions, search the library catalogue by author for the National Film Board and limit to electronic resources to find streaming vidoes. If you are interested in DVDs or Videos too do not apply the electronic resources limit.

“From historical films dating back to 1928 to current contemporary releases, including award-winning documentaries, animation and fiction, this initiative invites Canadians from all regions, to browse, discover and be entertained by the stories that bind us together.” – Search the library catalogue for NFB to access this collection

3. Request DVDs/Videos owned by other Ontario Universities

Western Libraries is a member of the Interfilm Group, an informal association of 20 Ontario universities with film and video collections. The Media Catalogue lists thousands of film and video titles that may be borrowed free of charge.

4. Recommend a purchase

You are also welcome to  recommend a purchase for Films of interest that are not currently in our collection.
