Offers full text online collection of books and pamphlets documenting Canadian history from the first European contact to the late 19th century. Particularly strong in literature, women's history, native studies, travel and exploration, and the history of French Canada.
Canadiana Online consists of 3 collections: Monographs, Government Publications, and Serials – Periodicals, Annuals and Newspapers. These collections bring together Early Canadiana Online (ECO), the entire microfiche corpus of the Canadian Institute for Historical Microreproductions (CIHM), plus millions of pages of additional content never before published.
Altogether, Canadiana Online includes 32 million pages of content, or about 6 times the size of the ECO collection. About 70% of this content is online now, with the remainder to be added over the course of 2017. Canadiana Online is the only electronic resource that offers full-text searching across the entire corpus of CIHM fiche.
