Open Repository non-exclusive distribution license

The non-exclusive distribution license grants Western University the right to distribute scholarly and creative works online and to potentially migrate them to new formats for preservation purposes. All authors must grant this license to upload their items to Western University's Open Repository.

NON-EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTION LICENSE By signing and submitting this license, I (the author/s or copyright owner) grant to The University of Western Ontario (the "University") a non-exclusive, perpetual and royalty-free right to use, archive, reproduce, convert (as defined below), sublicence and/or distribute my submission (including the abstract) worldwide in print and electronic format and in any medium, including but not limited to audio or video. Further, I authorize third parties to perform any of the University's rights described herein on the University's behalf. I agree that the University may, without changing the content, convert the submission to any medium or format for the purpose of accessibility for persons with disabilities. I agree that the University may keep more than one copy of my submission for purposes of security, back-up and preservation. I represent that this submission is my original work, and that I grant the rights contained in this license. I also represent that my submission does not, to the best of my knowledge, infringe upon anyone's copyright or privacy rights. If this submission contains material for which I do not hold copyright, I represent that I have obtained the unrestricted permission of the copyright owner to grant the University the rights required by this license, and that such third-party owned material is clearly identified and acknowledged within the text or content of the submission. If this submission is based upon work that has been sponsored or supported by an agency or organization other than the University, I represent that I have fulfilled any right of review or obligations required by such contract or agreement. The University will clearly identify my name(s) as the author(s) or owner(s) of the submission, and will not make any alteration, other than as allowed by this license, to my submission.

Creative Commons licensing

Authors may choose to add a Creative Commons (CC) license to their work. Applying a CC license gives individual creators a standardized way to grant the public permission to use their creative work under copyright law. For someone who wants to use your work, the presence of a Creative Commons license on your work answers the question, What can they do with your work?

If you are uncertain which license is for you, use the Creative Commons License Chooser, and follow the steps to select the appropriate license for your work.
