Western’s Research Information Management System (RIMS) Resource Hub

Western RIMS is a university-wide, centralized platform designed to empower faculty, researchers and scholars by organizing and showcasing their research and scholarly activities.

Western RIMS uses Symplectic Elements—a leading research information management platform used by universities worldwide. The platform is designed to automate selected data fields from sources like ORCID, Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science and other academic databases, including Peoplesoft, to help build consistent, public-facing profiles for Western researchers.

With the launch of RIMS now underway, Western is initiating a phased implementation for the campus community. At this early stage, not all groups are yet invited or required to create a RIMS profile. Access to RIMS and invitations to build profiles will gradually be extended as implementation progresses, providing tailored support and ensuring a smooth introduction to the new platform.

The RIMS resource hub provides information about RIMS, its goals, and objectives, and offers guidance on how to begin using the new platform. For details on which groups are included in each phase, please refer to the implementation plan.
