Western’s Research Information Management System (RIMS) Resource Hub

Western University RIMS Implementation Plan

Western University is excited to introduce Western’s new Research Information Management System (RIMS) — a platform designed to streamline how we collect, manage, and showcase the research and scholarly activities of our academic community.

To ensure a smooth and effective transition, we are implementing RIMS in phases, allowing us to gather feedback, improve onboarding, and provide tailored support to each group. Your feedback is essential in shaping implementation and driving adoption across the university.

2025-26 Phases
Groups Outcomes
Senior leaders (VPR, AVPRs, ADRs, Deputy Provost), Western Libraries (WL) librarians & archivists
  • Feedback to refine implementation
  • Prepare WL librarians and archivists to support broader rollout
Early adopters (WRCs, CRCs, Western Research Institutes)
  • Final refinements to RIMS
  • Strengthen engagement and readiness for full rollout

Full rollout to faculties (phased approach, starting with Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.)

We will share a phased rollout plan with more information as soon as it is finalized.

  • Full adoption of RIMS across Western
  • Continued support and optimization based on ongoing feedback

Why a Phased Implementation?

By introducing Western RIMS in phases, we can:

Listen and adapt: Each group’s feedback helps us improve the onboarding experience for the next.

Provide better support: Tailored training and documentation evolve with each phase.

Ensure success: A thoughtful, responsive approach leads to a more effective and sustainable system.

We appreciate your collaboration as we implement RIMS together. Stay tuned for updates and opportunities to get involved!
