Music - Resources by Instrument

The Solo Music Reference Collection (SMRC) contains music for solo instruments or solo instrument with keyboard accompaniment. The SMRC should be used to supplement the music found in the main collection of the Music Library. Most of the music is not standard repertoire. An interesting assortment of unusual and twentieth-century music may be found in this collection.

The SMRC is not found in the general Music Library score collection and, before 2024, items in the collection did not appear in the Western Libraries catalogue. Staff are now working to make the collection discoverable online. Links will be added to the tables below as pieces are added to the catalogue. Western community members can request, sign out, and renew any SMRC piece – catalogued or not – at the Music Library desk. Online requests may also be submitted for titles that appear in the catalogue.

The SMRC is housed in the Choral / Band / Orchestral (CBO) Library (Room 134, Talbot College). To browse the SMRC in person, contact the Music Library to schedule an appointment during the hours of opening of the Music Library.
