Music by Black Artists

Introduction

This living document is part of a series of guides highlighting music resources for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. It was created in consultation with the Faculty of Music's EDI-D Task Force.

This guide is part of an ongoing effort by Western Libraries to highlight the diversity of its collections and facilitate engagement with the intellectual and artistic ideas of their creators. The intent of this guide is to encourage the exploration of music created by Black artists through research, teaching and performance. We welcome your input on this guide.

Western Libraries is taking steps to increase our collections in support of the research, teaching and performance of music by Black artists. The various tabs in this guide contain sample items in Western Libraries. They do not represent everything available from Western Libraries. If a work is not yet available in the Music Library collection, please recommend a purchase.
