PAIS Index [From database] "PAIS was established in 1914 for the purpose of chronicling the world's public affairs, public and social policies, international relations, and world politics. PAIS was formed to prepare and disseminate information, primarily bibliographic in nature, for the use of scholars, researchers, librarians, legislators, government officials, the business and financial community, policy researchers, students, and others seeking to locate published information in the realm of public policy.
The PAIS International database is concerned with current public policy issues and emphasizes factual and statistical information. Print and electronic academic journals in the social sciences are indexed with particular attention to articles that bear on public policy, administration, and legislation. Business topics are covered, with emphasis on economic factors, industry surveys, business-societal interactions and similar issues, rather than details of business operations. In fields such as law, education, medicine, and transportation, publications dealing with matters of general public interest are listed; those of interest mainly to practitioners in the field are not. In all appropriate subject fields, international comparisons and global views are included."
