Bloomberg Certificates

Bloomberg offers self-paced e-learning courses that are designed to boost your knowledge and strengthen your resume. After finishing each program, Bloomberg awards you a certificate of completion. The courses available are: 

1) Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC):

BMC is an 8-15 hour self-paced e-learning course that provides a visual introduction to financial markets and the core functionality of the Bloomberg platform. To get the BMC certificate, you must complete the 4 compulsory modules (additional optional modules are available).

2) Bloomberg Finance Fundamentals (BFF):

BFF is a 6-8 hour self-paced e-learning course that provides an introduction to key concepts in finance and investment. Throughout the course, you will explore real-life scenarios through the perspective of various professionals, helping you to manage your money and build an understanding of careers across the finance sector.

3) Environmental Social Governance (ESG):

ESG is a 5-7 hour self-paced e-learning course that shows how to implement ESG strategies and prepare ESG reports for regulators. 

To listen to the videos, bring your own wired headphones (wireless won't connect) or borrow ones from the Info Desk.

Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC)

BMC is a self-paced e-learning course that provides a visual introduction to financial markets and the core functionality of the Bloomberg platform. To get the BMC certificate, you must complete the 4 compulsory modules (additional optional modules are available). There is no grade requirement to acquire the certificate - it's a certificate of completion.

Bring your own wired headphones (wireless won't connect) or borrow ones from the Info Desk.

Access Certificate Courses through Bloomberg for Education

Any current student, staff, or faculty member at Western is eligible to do the courses through Bloomberg for Education. The Bloomberg terminals require an active Western ID - alumni and guests are not eligible.

These courses are only available from the Bloomberg workstations. To access them:

  1. Log in to the computer with your Western ID and password
  2. Log in to your Bloomberg account or follow the steps to create an account
  3. Once in Bloomberg, type BCER and Enter/GO.
  4. For the first time click on the Sign Up option. After you input the information requested, the course website should launch automatically.

  1. For the second and subsequent times accessing Bloomberg for Education, click on 'Log In' under the Bloomberg Terminal Users heading. The course website should launch automatically.

  1. Bloomberg for Education will open in a browser outside of Bloomberg, so that you watch the course and follow along in Bloomberg. Click on Certificates in the top menu to select the course you want to take.
